David Walker, a dangerous criminal sentenced to for double , escapes from the prison of Jarrat, Virginia. While the entire county police is on his trail the fugitive takes advantage to adjust a score to settle with his wife Miriam, guilty of having abandoned him during the detention period. Having arrived into his wife’s house, David discovers that another man named Edward has taken his place. Edward is a wealthy industrialist of the county who, unaware of the imminent danger, has woven an extramarital affair with Miriam.
