When the "site maintenance" message came up, Firefox was always sent to LiveJasmin, deleting cookies associated with Intporn fixed the problem

Someone on another forum asked what had happened to Intporn, he hadn't been able to access the site for several days. He always received this page:

Intporn.com is down for maintenance

We will soon be back. You will be redirected in 3 seconds... :-)
This website is offline

No cached version is available.
The most likely causes:

The server is down for maintenance
There may be a network problem
The site may be experiencing excessive load

Retry for a live version of the site
..............

Other people on that forum tried Intporn and found that it worked. The original poster switched to another browser and that fixed the problem.

I ran into that bug today. Once the maintenance message came up, every time I tried to access Intporn, I got that message again. That went on for a couple of hours until I tried IE and was able to get to Intporn.

I went back to Firefox and deleted all the cookies associated with Intporn. That fixed the problem.

I wonder how many users gave up on Intporn when that problem occurred and they weren't able to get on the site for a few days?

I keep getting that message last 2 nights - had it Friday & Saturday evening

I'm on Chrome so next time I get the message I'll do what you mention above.

The cookie-clearing trick works until the next time you try to do a search. The problem seems to arise because intporn tries to get around pop-up blocking, and does it incorrectly with respect to Firefox.

When you get the maintenance page, which intporn seems to be set up to send (foolishly IMHO) if a search takes too long, the maintenance page in turn sends a permanent HTTP 302 redirection response to our browsers which Firefox interprets (correctly) as a notice that the URL of intporn has changed permanently to that of livejasmine.

Once that happens, the only way to get back to intporn is to purge all (not just intporn's) cached web content from Firefox (in OPTIONS-->Advanced-->Network). You may have to close and restart FF. This is truly overkill for recovering one website.

So it's a combination of intporn's tricky coding not being quite tricky enough, and Firefox's rigid interpretation of HTML rules.

I no longer use intporn's search. In fact, I now use google advanced search to access intporn, using
site:intporn.com/forums/forum-i-m-interested-in as the search key. Using the advanced search, you can force the posts to appear in date order, just like on the forum. Works as well as using the forum, and doesn't waste everybody's time.

However I now got what nycram mentions as well after using the search. Was using Chrome so now had to log on using Firefox as I am not deleting cached content everytime this happens

So its not just Firefox as nycram mentions - it is also Chrome

Come on Intporn - sort it out or people will keep getting the 'Down for maintenance" message & go elsewhere for their porn

That bug happens to me when I'm just logging into Intporn or going from page to page in a forum. The root problem is likely the same as what happens during a search, if anything takes too long, the Intporn code sets a cookie to redirect to LiveJasmin and never clears it.

This problem has happened to me a few more times and each time all I had to do was clear the cookies associated with Intporn,

I didn't have to clear everything or all cookies, only the cookies for Intporn.

I've noticed the number of new posts has been falling lately. It seems Intporn is slowly losing uploaders and users. Eventually, Intporn will lose all the uploaders and then all the readers will leave and the forum will be dead.

Agree - it will die - is anyone @ Intporn doing anything?/ Do they read these threads?

These threads are read by Intporn staff and when there is something to report we will make an announcement.

The error message referred to is annoying but it is browser related. Once cookies are cleared there is no problem accessing the forum.

Unfortunately many members are unaware of the source of the problem and will need to discover it for themselves if they do not have access to the forum and this thread.

All one needs to do is google "why can't i access certain websites" or some similar query and a list of millions of answers will appear. Of course the answer you need is probably in the first set.

I know how frustrating such experiences can be but remember this is a warez forum and not an online study group or some other tutorial college.

If you need further assistance feel free to pose another question and we will do our best to get an answer.

Sorry, Gideon, you are incorrect. It keeps happening constantly, even after deleting cookies. No other board does this.

It turns out you don't have to delete all the cookies. I think only cookie that has to be to deleted is "cf_use_ob".

After the permanent LiveJasmin bug occurred, I deleted the cookies one by one until the forum came up.

Edit: The problem happened again. Deleting that one cookie was enough to stop the LiveJasmine page from coming up.
