I just had Rapidgator force download a registry cleaning scam program to my computer

Was attempting to d/l this zipped picture file at Rapid Gator.

It let me have the file, but it ALSO forced d/l one of those 'registry cleaning' programs that are almost impossible to remove.

It was impossible to cancel once the file download was initiated.

The new program that was force-downloaded to my computer was 'RegClean Pro'.

I was able to remove this program by finding it in the 'Programs' folder on my Windows PC. However, to keep the program from 'reinstalling' itself every time you boot your computer, you will have to go into the 'System32 folder in your Windows System folder and throw out the 'RegClean Pro Updates' and any other file that says 'Reg Clean' in the title.

Not a huge issue, but when a usually trusted file site suddenly takes over my computer and force downloads a program I don't want, I thought other people should be aware of it.

Are you sure it is posted by user?
Because I've seen that kind of sh1t from rapidgator sometimes when I download files from there. I think this is "advertisement" related.
If you got any .exe when you download a file, just don't download it, refresh the page and redownload original file.
Too bad for rapidgator, because I use them also.

I don't think this was the original poster's fault. While I didn't visit the link above, any time I download from rapidgator (in the past two months or so) you must uncheck the "Download RapidGator Service Cleaner" or something to that effect. once you do that, you can click "download" without the .exe file instead.
