Cable network AMC will broadcast the live action version of the popular comicbook The Walking Dead at the end of October. The show will premiere on Halloween night and I must say I cannot wait. I started reading the trade paperbacks (six issue collected stories) and have been hooked ever since.

The story is about the lives and journey of a small pack of survivors in what is apparently a cataclysmic event that resulted in most of the population (in the US at least, as far as we can see) into zombies. Its never explained how they got that way, we the viewers (readers) are just as clueless as the survivors. We primarily see things from the perspective of Rick Grimes. He was a Deputy from a small town in Kentucky who was shot trying to apprehend a suspect. Rushed to the hospital and surgery, Rick succumbs to a coma and awakens weeks later to an empty hospital room. He soon discovers the whole facility is abandoned, except for zombies walking around and after a few close calls Rick is off to find out what happened to his family and the world.
