If we may return to the topic at hand, whether Assange was guilty of rape or not, here are two widely extreme views – between which we may perhaps get an idea of the truth:

The first article is written by an author who appears to have a feminist chip on her shoulder, wholeheartedly siding with Assange’s accusers, and who is clearly biased against Assange, mocking and ridiculing him throughout. She lashes out at noted feminist author Naomi Wolf for Wolf’s refusal to condemn Assange. Ms. Wildman laments that the accusers have “been outed on the web; they have been pilloried,” victims of “slut shaming and misogyny.”

The second article was written in a more vitriolic manner, by an author happily at home with “slut shaming and misogyny.” According to this article, the victim is a “radical feminist,” who has been revenge-minded against the hated male species, and she already has one sex accusation on record. Mr. Bardamu asserts that the second accuser just happened to be a friend of the first, which if true, surely would appear suspicious. Mr. Bardamu’s peculiar theory for the first accuser’s motive: “She fabricated a rape charge because she was mad at him for porking her younger hotter tighter girlfriend within two days of putting it in her.”

A photo of the accuser is featured. She looks pretty hot and tight in her own right, methinks.

But let’s get to the crux of the rape possibility, and for that, we ought to refer to the first, anti-Assange article. Ms. Wildman reveals that the basis of the charge lies with Assange “trying to have unprotected sex with her” The accuser tried to fetch a condom repeatedly, “but Assange had stopped her by holding her arms and pinning her legs.” The accuser admits that Assange released her afterward, and used a condom anyway. However “at some stage Assange “had ‘done something’ with the condom that resulted in it becoming ripped, and ejaculated without withdrawing.”

So by the accuser’s own side of the story, the sex was consensual, and the worst that may be said of Assange, if we are to accept her version as the truth, is that he acted like an asshole.

When I began reading this thread, I clicked on the big link our Super Moderator, Sexylinks, had provided – thinking it offered the background to the Assange story. The content was unrelated, regarding a horrifying revelation that Mr. Assange’s Wikileaks had uncovered, the killing of twelve civilians by laughing American soldiers. It is the kind of story our suppressed and sniveling general media will not ordinarily cover. When the only voice a government succeeds in presenting to a cowed public becomes its own, then certainly a dissenter such as Assange will become dangerous to the forces of such a government. (Although not necessarily to the extent of actually having the dissenter assassinated, a solution DoscFreaky leaned toward, above.)

I have read a TIME Magazine article where Assange was accused of exposing innocent people, as DocsFreaky similarly criticizes above (Docs also feels Assange’s motivation was to make money – does everyone agree profit was the reason why Assange has been behind Wikileaks, or did his lucrative book deal result after he had achieved such media notoriety?), but I am not aware of any instance where a Wikileaks exposé harmed or endangered an individual – unlike, say, ex-CIA operative Valerie Plame’s identity being abusively exposed by our former Republican administration.

Even if one or more examples of harm may be cited, I’d say such would be a justified price to pay for the uncomfortable facts to be revealed, serving as a much-needed, yet albeit tiny, check against a government so fully in charge, and so powerful that it can get away with Constitution-disintegrating laws such as The Patriot Act. Why would any rational person – more so, why would any patriotic person who loves the good ideals his or her country stands for – complain when government corruption and criminality comes out in the open? The good doctor writes that “this isnt the 60s,” a contention in which he is totally correct. Yet perhaps our superficial and fearful society can use some of those sixties.
