Description: It's called A French Honeymoon alright but it's more like a crazy quilt of Nudie-Cutie clips and naked Glamour Girl loops, all cut and pasted into a dreamlike bit of international insanity. You know you're in for a wild ride when, only seconds after the credits say "Directed by Gaston Hakim," the following text appears: "The same old story written, photographed and directed by all of us. So, if there is any similarity whatsoever to our picture, it is purely coincidental and we are all to blame!!!!" Say, what ?!
The plot is Nudie-Cutie minimalist: Archibald, a British playboy, marries a French sex kitten, honeymoons in a Paris hotel room, and spends the length of the film ignoring his sleeping wife and, instead, imagines himself on a global vacation meeting, photographing, and gawking at various naked women. Simple, yes? Apparently, not simple enough as yet a second framing device is added in which, at the film's start, a Sinister Figure sneaks into the office of a film producer - presumably that of director-producer-distributor GASTOM HAKIN (who gave the world Naked Venus, Festival Girls, and Horrors of Spider Island) - finds film cans labeled "French Honey Moon," and unspools a reel which cues the film proper to unfold.
As his wife remains a sleeping beauty, we see Archibald rendezvous with a Russian writer named Lola L'Amour - a stylized vignette with Miss L'Amour showing off her figure in a montage of outfits. He also takes pictures of a beautiful French girl who writhes topless in the sand; takes pictures of a beautiful Spanish girl who writhes topless in the surf; gawks at a naked blonde who writhes in a hammock, a gal who blows bubbles while taking a bath, and an Italian model who writhes on a leopard-skin bed. He also heads to the jungle where a black girl with amazing red lips writhes in the heat before making out with giant blocks of ice. My goodness...
But wait! Archibald eventually saunters onto his hotel-room balcony and what does he discover right across the street? Yup, "Strip Tease College" - hey, that old Art of Burlesque film was right! - where we're treated to a parade of fabulous looking Euro-strippers prancing around near-naked in their dressing room, and doing their striptease routines. Wonderful, wonderful...
A little bit of travelogue and a lot of Nudie-Cutie - where crisp 35mm collides head on with obvious 16mm - A French Honeymoon makes us wish we knew more about its origins. There's far too much English on display in signs, notes, magazines, etc., for this to be a simple French import. But where, exactly, this pastiche was slapped together is, for now, anyone's guess. And keep a lookout for that vintage Sixties' Frankenstein toy that drops its pants and flashes its face red. For no particular reason, it's on the producer's desk at the beginning.

Other stark-naked gals with big hairdos sit around chit-chatting and preening while waiting for their turn in front of the camera.
Mr. Lewis also warns Barbara Jo what can happen to models who don't work with a reputable studio. They get propositioned and taken advantage of by wolves!
After much consideration, Barbara Jo decides to be photographed sans clothing in a classy photo layout. Elegant and refined, she rises to the occasion, tastefully posing and covering her naughty bits with a d****ry. Better to bare it all than go hungry in the big city!
In other words, welcome to the wonderful world of BARRY MAHON, who wins the King of the Nudie-Cutie crown simply by his sheer unrelenting output. Like SANDY SINCLAIR, the gal who gets her leg cut off in Blood Feast, and the star of Scum of the Earth. Sandy is Miss January, and sits topless on a some coral wearing a mermaid's tale as fake fish are dangled in front of her.
Miss February sits naked with a fishing pole on a fake dock as two cardboard fish stick out of the "water" and smile at her.
Miss March lies on her bare back dreaming of sheep.
Naked Miss April holds a cape in front of her like a bullfighter; while Miss May holds what looks like a tablecloth in front of her essential privates.
Miss June acts shocked as a prop crab runs off with her bra; Miss July doesn't like working with a guy in a lion suit so just poses naked in front of a lion drawn on a backdrop; and Miss August poses as "the legendary farmer's daughter."
Miss September is none other than nudie-vet DELORES CARLOS (The Beast That Killed Women) whose arms are bound by jewelry.
Miss October has a fake scorpion stuck onto her bare butt; Miss November poses like a Greek goddess; and Miss December simply looks shocked.
Personally, we prefer the posed version of the photos rather than the final calendar version which has been needlessly gussied up with lousy art.
Produced and photographed by MANUEL S. CONDE, Calendar Pin-Up Girls (aka Calendar Pin-Ups) almost plays like a documentary except, of course, there's more emphasis here on the nudity than there is on the f-stop. Oddly enough, while Mr. Conde lets the cameras into his real-life studio, the "M S. Conde" seen on screen is not - repeat: NOT - really Manuel S. Conde. Nope, the on-screen Conde is an actor with the real Conde safely behind the camera and out of sight. Conde, of course, started making films in Cuba (Girls on the Rocks, Cuba Confidential), came to Miami in the early Sixties, and dove headfirst into the Florida exploitation scene, directing most of Lullaby of Bareland, all of The Case of the Stripping Wives, and the nudist camp scenes for Secrets of an Undercover Model, before settling in Santa Monica and continuing a sexploitation career by producing and directing such skin gems as Deep Jaws, The All-American Girl, and The Danish Connection.
